Gyotaku printmaking is a traditional form of Japanese art that began over 100 years ago as a way for fishermen to keep record of the fish they caught. They would apply sumi ink to one side of a freshly caught fish, then cover the fish with rice paper and rub an exact image of the fish. While this class will not be using fresh caught fish, we will be learning the technique! Join the Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub on Friday, April 5 beginning at 3:30 PM at the Brownsville Community Library Kirk Room to learn about this traditional art form. Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub Mobile Makerspace brings STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) supplies, tools, and technology to provide students, communities, and schools in Linn and Benton counties with hands-on building, tinkering, and learning experiences. Our mission is to help students develop a “maker mindset.” Library manners expected. No childcare provided. This event is free. For more information, please call the Brownsville Library at 541-466-5454.
