Boards & Commissions
What do these bodies do?
The City of Brownsville has several citizen driven boards that set policy and advise City Staff on many details dealing with the operations of the City. Council is elected at-large. Every two years, three (3) or four (4) seats are up for election. The Mayor & Council appoint citizens who are interested in filling positions on the various Board & Commissions as seats become available. Council posts advertisements in The Times to solicit interested parties. You can find all of the duties and responsibilities of each of these bodies in the Brownsville Municipal Code. The public is encouraged to attend any and all meetings of the Boards & Commissions in the City to stay abreast of the issues the City is working on. All meetings are open to the general public. If you wish to be placed on an agenda for any of the Boards & Commissions, please contact the City Administrator.
